Called clove currant because of its deliciously fragrant flowers, this is an easy-to-grow ornamental and fruiting shrub.
The early spring clusters of yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers are followed in August by an abundance of large, jet black berries. These are sweet and flavourful with a subtle hint of spice.
This makes a good sized shrub and is both ornamental as well as productive. The plants are hardy, self fertile and make a great alternative to black currants or red currants.
