BLUE ELDERBERRY (Sambucus caerulea)

I just love elderberries! They are easy to grow, medium-sized shrubs, their beautiful, large, white flower heads in the spring are followed by large quantities of blue, tasty and nutritious berries in late summer.
The fruits are packed full of vitamins and antioxidants and a syrup made from the berries is a traditional cold cure.
You can also make delicious elderberry fritters and cordial from clusters of elderberry flowers and make jelly, juice and wine from the berries.
